Quarterly Catch-Up with Marketing

Q1 2022 EDITION
Hey there! I’m Rebecca Novotny, the Senior Marketing Specialist on the Irrigation Marketing Team.
First, I extend a special thank you to all our Valley® Dealers. You are our brand champions, and our link to customers around the world. Your feedback enables us to improve and provide materials that help you make more relationships.
My job is to make sure you, as a Valley Dealer, have what you need to successfully advertise the Valley brand. I will be sending out a marketing newsletter every quarter that I hope is helpful to you. I will share marketing tips and notify you of any new tools or materials that are available.
I'm a small-town girl who grew up on a farm in Northwestern Iowa. Our family farms corn and soybeans and we raise hogs. My dad still says I was the best hog sorter. My brother is currently in the process of taking over the farm. Farm transitions, generational gaps, Covid and sustainability practices continue to change the face of ag marketing. The marketing team is taking this into account and providing assets that can help in these cases.
Marketing has your back! We’re here to help you one-on-one to grow your business and promote the Valley brand the best way we can. We will remind you of resources available to you, plus—we’re global! Please reach out to the appropriate regional marketing person for any marketing need.
I've enjoyed talking with a lot of you during the past seven years and hope to continue to meet a lot more of you. Thank you again for your loyalty to Valley!

Upcoming Trade Shows

Remember, attending these shows are a great networking opportunity! Look into local smaller events where you can participate by having a booth set up.
  • Draw visitors in by utilizing Valley pull-up banners to advertise new products and solutions. Visit ValleyStuff to download an order form and see what banners are available.
  • Use the Valley Smart Farm available on the Valley Irrigation website to interact with your visitors and show them solutions to help with their farming and growing needs.
  • Don’t forget to document contact information about new leads! Use Showpad to send sales material to them and remember to follow-up with them in a couple weeks.

The Importance of Digital Marketing

We know face-to-face interaction in sales will never completely go away, least of all in agriculture. But consider a few of these statistics found in this article about Small Business Marketing Statistics & Trends that highlight technology in daily life and the growth of digital marketing:
  • 81% of shoppers research online before purchasing.
  • 92% of business owners believe that having a website is the most effective digital marketing strategy.
  • 41% of brick-and-mortar buyers read reviews before making a purchase.
  • The top two channels for customer research are online reviews at 55% and company websites at 47%.
  • 91% of customers have visited a store because of an online experience.
  • Customers who engage with a business on social media spend up to 40% more with them in the long term.
Ensure you have detailed grower information that includes email addresses. Even if you don’t do any email marketing now, you likely will in the future and it’s important to build out your customer lists now.
Whether you need help managing your current website or need a new one, please contact our recommended agency partner, DayCloud Studios. DayCloud can also help with your digital marketing. Dealerships may use co-op dollars for website startup costs and digital advertising.

Showpad Tips

With the ongoing pandemic concerns and practices of social distancing, you can’t always visit growers in person. Showpad is the perfect sales enablement tool to stay in contact with potential sales and send material they may be interested in.
Showpad has all of our most recent one-sheeters, brochures, presentations, images and videos ready for you to easily share with customers during sales visits or over email. You can also upload your own documents, making it a one-stop shop for sharing information.

Sharing Content

With Showpad you have the ability to share content with customers in a variety of ways. You can share multiple files and pages while browsing your Experiences or by using the Share tab. Use the content picker to browse and select your content. It’s also possible to search for content you like to share with your customers when creating your share.
